Thanks for the Gratitude

Christmas can be overwhelming.

There’s a lot coming at you in the morning.

It’s pretty amazing.

When Nate and Sparrow were just getting warmed up this morning, and Nate had opened his first present, he said, “THANKS, MOM!!!”.

That was when I heard Sparrow pipe up and say, “THANKS, MOM!!!”, too.

She hadn’t had a chance to open up anything yet.

She was caught up in the moment.

I don’t think that she was only mimicking Nate…I think that she was really excited for him.

That was beautiful.

That was a moment that I probably would have missed….but, for some reason, this morning it made a good and deep impression on me.

I thought, “man….what kind of world would it be if we were all so excited for what someone else was getting….?”

What if the excitement that we felt wasn’t only for what we were gaining….but for the good fortune the people around us were celebrating?

We measure and watch to make sure that everything is fair….or that our bases are covered….but there really is something to be said for a contagious spirit of gratitude….no matter what happens to or around us in our lives.

Sparrow! You’re a genius!!

What else are you going to teach me?

Merry Christmas!!
