Replaced the idler pulley and put a new belt on the Mail Jeep this afternoon.
The Jeep had been sounding kind of weird….squealy….but, sort of a subtle squealiness….and, sure enough, it was the idler pulley.
Dry as a bone….hard to turn.
That’s not hard to understand why things would sound strange with a seized up idler pulley.
The first time I changed it out, about 5 years ago, the RHD part I needed was available only from the dealer….and was 56 dollars.
56 dollars for a little pulley….yikes.
This time, I was able to get it from my regular parts store…..and the part cost 12 dollars after the discount.
That was a better deal.
All these things that need fixing….and the hard part (for me) is often diagnosing the problem.
You know, though?
I’m getting a lot better at the diagnosing part the more problems I have.
What an education it is to have all these problems.
