she followed a band…

When asked how she ended up with a tiny house and a thriving business in a beautiful natural setting, she said that she’d followed her favorite band.

I don’t know if everyone would be so lucky.

Of course, somehow, I get the feeling that some money must have been available somewhere along the line.

You don’t build something like this without money….and…you probably don’t get a chance to follow your favorite band if you’re worried about being able to keep it all together financially.

I don’t know if the money has to come first….but it has to come at some point to make something this good.

This is an interesting video.

secret buffet

I had a dream last night where the manager at the hotel I was staying at wouldn’t let me go eat at the breakfast buffet.

They had some kind of rule where the people who stayed longer than 2 nights got to go to the head of the line….and because I’d only stayed 2 nights, he put my name on the bottom of the list.

In fact, not only did he put my name at the bottom of the list, he put my name at the bottom of the list….in pencil.

When he finally told me what floor the buffet was on, and I got in the elevator to get there, I only had about 5 minutes to find the buffet and grab a plate of food.

I remember that the elevator had about 126 floors and the buffet was on the fourth floor but there weren’t any floor buttons on the panel….you just had to press stop when you thought you were getting close to your floor.

I woke up when I took my first bite of over-syrupped pancake.

It was funny, sort of, because it seemed like the manager spent 20 minutes explaining and arguing with me about why I shouldn’t get to go….but, when it was finally time to make a decision about my participation in eating at the giant buffet, he only left me 5 minutes to get up to the fourth floor and gorge.

I’m sure there’s some weird metaphor in there somewhere….something about being too eager to wait for something that isn’t worth waiting for, maybe….maybe that it’s wrong to set yourself up for disappointment just because you think that you want to do something that other people tell you isn’t something they’re going to let you do…….?

Who knows.

It was a nice buffet….but….it wasn’t that nice.

I wonder why he wouldn’t just let me go the first time I asked about it?

Weird dream.

hemp….house

Hempcrete.

This is a good looking house made out of a building material that uses the hemp plant.

These guys bought bales of chopped hemp, added a binder and sand….some water…and they had a product that could be used to build a house.

This house is in New Zealand.

Check out the house site, too!

Beautiful.

The builder said that the house cost 150,000….which is about 105,000 US dollars.

Nice house.

it’s so dangerous…

Jenny and I talked about our youngest daughter’s experience at school this morning.

I couldn’t sleep….and Jenny could tell that I was laying there…awake….so we talked about school for a while.

Even at 4, there’s already a posse of mean girls to contend with.

That’s crummy.

It shouldn’t feel like a dangerous place for a little girl to go to a couple of days a week.

It shouldn’t be a place where you don’t feel safe.

These little guys in the video have a lot to contend with, but, I’ll bet, they don’t have a lot of bullying going on, perched at the edge of the cliff.

When you have real issues….like a long fall if you screw up….you pay attention to each other…and treat each other better.

Of course, if Sparrow smashed the ringleader of the mean girl posse in the face, the whole thing would dissolve into a manageable situation.

A bully can’t stand up to somebody pushing back.

They’re afraid.

That’s why they’re bullies.

I wouldn’t recommend that, though.

That’s not Sparrow’s way.

Everybody has something to contend with.

It’s a shame that it starts early.

It would almost be easier to be with friends….climbing a ladder to the sky.

a safe bet…

Talked to the well driller tonight about drilling a well on the new property.

It’s a big project…but….”do-able”.

I am exhausted.

Too much mail….too little time.

I need a vacation….and a big water producing well.

Here’s a Dylan Magastar video about a person living the “van life”.

That’s the vacation part….maybe.

It will be good to get some water over at the property….and get a good fenced area ready for a good garden.

We can’t garden where we are…the big Great Pyrenees I brought home when he was a cute little puppy ruined Jenny’s garden for a while….so I better get another option ready….quick.

Man.

Why am I so freaking tired?

I don’t know about this van build, though.

A little too fancy for me.

There’s nothing “dirtbagger” about this stuff.

Bowling Green…..

I heard a different version of this song on the radio this afternoon…..delivering the mail….listening to music.

Jesse Winchester….

Man.

Here’s the remake I heard….

And….here’s the original:

Thanks, Jesse.

A great song isn’t always great in my mind until a great singer interprets it.
